Operating Structure & Partnering Opportunities

The Brooklyn Media Lab is a collection of independent contractors that assemble on a project-by-project basis to carry out production in a wide variety of disciplines. Through today's advances in affordable authoring technology, production can be more individualized for both the producer and consumer, with the mass scope of an audience that transcends demographic and geographic boundaries. Our office is virtual, in that it is comprised of the space and equipment of a diffuse network of independent artists. Our structure is fluid and egalitarian, with each member contributing based on their abilities and desires within the context of each endeavor's necessities. Artists, Consultants and Principles are paid a percentage of profits based on their contribution and labor. We feel that this approach offers each member a personal hand in the artistic and commercial outcome of each project, while encouraging a healthy level of competition between everyone involved.

As the immediacy and versatility of digital communication alters our traditional notions of the workplace, physical location and office hours are becoming less relevant. Our overhead costs are drastically reduced compared with many other studios that concern themselves with 9-5 staffing and feng-shui'd offices. The BML servers serve as our homebase, the website as our portal, and our events as the physical forum which defines BML and is defined by its associated artists. And 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, someone, somewhere, in some time zone, is awake and in front of a computer with an internet connection.

In this way BML has the honor of working with talent, as well as bringing creative thinkers together in a nourishing environment. The artists have the benefit of exposure for their work, in an established arts collective that offers them influence over the ultimate success of what they're participating in.

Patrons are welcome to contact any of our members individually, to assemble a team or select members for work on a project they are producing, or propose a project for which we can assemble the necessary freelancers, depending on it's nature. Such inquiries should be sent to us at production@brooklynmedialab.com.

With events scheduled throughout the year, we welcome artists, performers and inventors to contact us with ideas for performance pieces, events, or original works to sell. For more information email us at info@brooklynmedialab.com
